The Geocache of the Week is sure to lift geocachers up – literally!

Vytah (GC3A6Y9), or “elevator” is a difficulty 2, terrain 1.5 traditional cache located in Jihomoravsky kraj, Czech Republic.

The small cache container has been sitting on private property, with the land owner’s permission, since January 2012. Over the last 8 months, 625 geocachers have taken the time to log this cache and award it 227 Favorite Points.

berx.cz placed the geocache to showcase how the design of an elevator influences the retrieval of the cache container. The cache page provides significant insight to the purpose of an elevator, what it consists of, and how it works. Each of these factors provide small clues that could aid geocachers in their search for and retrieval of the cache.

The Vytah logbook

Berx.cz explains, “I love technical toys and I like a challenge. I wanted an urban cache that you’d have to put a little bit of thought into in order to find it. I was highly inspired by elevators when I came up with the idea for this cache.”

In order to avoid spoilers, berx.cz encourages geocachers not to take pictures exactly at the cache location.

One geocacher logging the visit says, “This is really the best, very creative, and very well executed cache! If I could, I would award this clever hide 10 points! Hesitation to visit this cache is a mistake.”

Watch the latest Geocaching.com Presents video: CITO: Hamburg to Prague. See how geocachers from two countries unite to cleanup the environment. Dozens of geocachers from Germany and the Czech Republic attended the Hamburg to Prague CITO Event in June of 2011. They cleared trash from a Prague park, including tires, discarded cables, and bags full of litter.

CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out . It’s a Geocaching.com volunteer environmental effort repeated over and over again around the world by groups of geocachers each year. Since 2002, geocachers have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly location. These volunteer efforts help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources. Geocaching.com Presents: “First to Find.” Watch this video and be part of the hunt to claim a FTF on a newly published cache (GC2X6AW). The Geocaching.com video team perched at ground zero as a Groundspeak Reviewer published the cache listing. The cache is located in the rural countryside of the Czech Republic. The crew counted the minutes until the first cacher arrived, but being FTF on this cache would take more than being first to the coordinates. Watch to find out why. Geocaching.com uvádí: “First to Find.” Podívejte se na toto video a zúčastněte se lovu a závodu o FTF nově uveřejněné keše (GC2X6AW). Video posádka z Geocaching.com číhala u cíle, když kontrolor společnosti Groundspeak zveřejnil podrobnosti keše. Keš se nachází ve venkovské krajině České republiky. Posádka počítala minuty, než dorazil první kačer, ale získat FTF této kešky nebude tak snadné. Dívejte se a zjistíte proč. Video obsahuje spojlery a bylo natočeno s povolením majitele keše.

Geocaching.com Presents: “Caching Underground – Finding ‘Styx.’” Caution: this video does contain spoilers. It was shot with cache owner permission.

Watch “Caching Underground – Finding ‘Styx’” to travel below the streets of Prague and experience uncovering one of the most popular geocaches in the Czech Republic. Styx is a difficulty 2, terrain 3.5 geocache. It brings even hearty geocachers face-to-face with their fears. The cache is deep underground. The only access is through a narrow tunnel which is home to countless spiders, phantom noises and chilling cold. Cachers are advised to take precautions, travel in groups, bring headlamps and even bring a skateboard. You’ll see why the geocachers in this story should have brought a skateboard to make it easier to get to the cache. Would you attempt Styx?

Podívejte se na Geocaching pod zemí – Nález kešky “Styx“, dostanete se do podzemí pražských ulic a zúčastníte se nálezu jedné z nejpopulárnějších geokeší v České republice. Geokeš Styx má obtížnost dvě a terén 3,5. Nadšenci budou muset překonat svůj strach. Keš je hluboko pod zemí. Je přístupná pouze úzkým tunelem, kde sídlí armády pavouků, děsivé zvuky a mrazivý chlad. Kačeři by se měli připravit: držte se ve skupinách, přineste si baterky čelovky a možná i skejtbord. Pokusíte se o tuto keš?

Geocaching.com Presents travels to the Czech Republic to explore this vibrant and growing geocaching community. Watch this trailer video to see a preview of the five Czech language geocaching adventure videos to be released in the next months. Each video will showcase a different aspect of geocaching in the Czech Republic. You’ll see the search for a geocache under the streets of Prague, a geocaching Event Cache that takes adventures down a river and a love story about two geocachers who’s wedding made the news! Searching for a geocache below Prague

Geocaching.com uvádí cestu do České republiky a průzkum živé a rostoucí komunity místních geokačerů. Podívejte se na tyto ukázky z pěti dobrodružných video záznamů o geokešingu v češtině, které budou zveřejněny během příštích měsíců. Každé video předvede jiný aspekt geokešingu v České republice. Uvidíte lov kešky v pražském podzemí, geokešingový event, při kterém se milovníci dobrodružství plaví po řece a zamilovaný příběh dvou geokačerů, jejichž svatba byla překvapením! Uvedení prvního videa o horečce být prvním nálezcem se plánuje na 22. září.

Geocaching.com také uvádí geokešingová videa v němčině a angličitině. Nové video Geocaching.com uvádí se vydává skoro každé dva týdny.

Přijď se podívat k nám do sídla Groundspeaku

Každý pátek ve 14:00 k nám do sídla Groundspeaku chodí cacheři z takové dálky jako je Čína, ale i ze sousedního komplexu kanceláří. Nezáleží na tom, odkud jsou, ale i tak mají před příchodem dvě věci společné: lásku k Geocachingu a příběh, o který by se rádi podělili s ostatními.

Sara (gonzogrrl) a Nicole

Z lidí v Groundspeaku, kteří se starají o chod stránek, se tak na krátko stanou cacheři, kteří si vyměňují trackovatelné předměty, hledají keše a sdílejí své zážitky na webu se ostatními geo-závisláky z celého světa.
Nicole (Louie Bliss), která se se stará o vztahy v komunitě, vždy cachery přivítá při nálezu úžasné keše GCK25B přímo v našem sídle. „Tak co tady děláte?” ptají se nás často naši návštěvníci.
Ve dne odpovídáme na e-maily a telefonáty, pomáháme lidem vyřešit jejich problémy tak, aby si Geocaching mohli užít v co největší možné míře. Když k nám však ale přijdou cacheři na návštěvu, práce se zastaví a my trávíme čas s nimi při hledání keše, vyfotíme se s nimi, prodáme nějaké suvenýry a ukážeme jim velkou mapu, která v reálném čase ukazuje logy ze všech částí světa.
Chceš se k nám přijít podívat? Není nic jednoduššího, než nám napsat na e-mail contact@geocaching.com. Napiš nám něco o sobě, odkud jsi a mi Ti s radostí pošleme souřadnice naší kanceláře (nápověda: nejsme uprostřed Lake Union. Šokující, já vím…). Jelikož jsme přes týden pracovně vytížení, jsou návštěvy plánovány vždy na pátek ve 14:00. Občas se jeden ze zakladatelů a další členové našeho týmu přijdou podívat také. Rádi potkáme lidi, kteří z této hry dělají více, než jen krabičky uložené někde v lese.

Sole Seeker

Už jsem potkal mnoho cacherů, ale i tak si stále pamatuji některé z mých oblíbených příběhů z těchto návštěv. Jednou u nás byl Sole Seeker, který si k nám přišel pro svůj 10 000. nález a byl překvapen, že jsme to s ním oslavili. Byl u nás také J&J Brown, který nám řekl o velké, ale dobře maskované keši před jeho zahradou, která cachery pokaždé zmate, protože (pozor, spoiler) vypadá jako strom! Anebo foomanjoo – fotograf cestující po celém světě, který kešoval v Korei a hned poté se vydal na svoji další cestu – hledat keše podíle Route 66 v Kalifornii.
Nezáleží na tom, odkud jsi anebo jestli keš v našem sídle bude tvá pátá nebo pětitisící. S radostí přivítáme každého! Doufáme, že se brzy uvidíme!
