Geocache Name:

Hsin Pyushin Monastic Complex -The hidden chamber (GC3FH35)

Difficulty/Terrain Rating:

2/3

Why this is the Geocache of the Week:

Geocaching is all about inspiring adventure—and what better way to have an adventure than to search through ancient temples for a hidden treasure? This geocache not only shows you some of the history of Myanmar, but also takes you on an Indiana Jones-style treasure hunt.

What geocachers have to say:

“Definitely the best geocache in Bagan for those who like an adventure. On the trip we even saw some human remains nearby that where pretty creepy but only because we took a wrong turning! The monastery was pretty crazy and doing the cache was a great experience. Really felt like Indiana Jones!” – Resetti

“Really creepy but funny. It was one of the most adventurous location we have done.” – Nomad is Beautiful

“i was really like Indiana Jones. And nice view from above. Thanks for heavenly adventure.” – roberttcl007

What the geocache owner, Heiwender, has to say:

“3 days I rode with my bike across the plains looking for little pieces to discover. So I also crossed the Hsin Pyushin Monastic Complex, a wonderful smaller temple complex you usually don`t find in any guide book but its a great spot to view sunset or just hanging out on a wide terrace.
By discovering the temple I also found a hole in the wall, some old buddha statues right inside. I took my torch a found this hidden corridor and when I reached the end I knew that this the perfect spot for a geocache. So I bought a souvenir-box and improvised a logbook. I gladly also found a local who was up to took maintenance but so far he had nothing to do. Whenever somethings wrong the next cacher takes care and almost everyone writes the same: “I really felt like Indiana Jones”. It`s great to leave something on a very special place I have strong memories on and also see that most of the people enjoy this spot so much like me. I got some favorite points and in this case I think it`s not a special caching box but a little adventure on a very special place. I also gets you a little bit thrilled to enter a black hole in a left and lonely temple in the middle of nowhere not knowing whats expecting you inside.”

Why this is the Geocache of the Week:

When geocachers are asked, “What’s your favorite part of geocaching?” one of the most common answers is, “It brings me to places I never knew existed.” This geocache in the Czech Republic is a perfect example of that. Once at GZ, geocachers will discover the ruins of the Pricovy Windmill. This windmill is a great example of 16th century industrial architecture that often goes overlooked. Geocache Name:

“1988 Field of Dreams” (GC359Z4)

Difficulty/Terrain Rating:

1.5/1.5

Why this is the Geocache of the Week:

There are quite a few geocaches hidden at movie sets around the world, including the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. To celebrate the beginning of the 2015 Major League Baseball season in the United States, this geocache takes us to a pretty famous place in baseball history. If you’ve seen the 1988 film “Field of Dreams”, you’ll most likely recognize exactly where this geocache is.

What geocachers have to say:

“I ended up completely altering my original plans just to visit here. I had originally planned to take 380 down to Cedar Rapids and then catch 80 out of Iowa. Then I remembered this site and decided to see where it was. Turns out, it wasn’t too far off the route I was already on. So I just HAD to detour and check it out. Got here early in the morning. What a cool place! The cache took me way longer to find than it really should have, but I got it. Then I wandered down to the house and ballfield. Looks a lot different in winter than it did in the movie. I took the time to wander around and snap some photos and of course, walk the bases. Based on the footprints in the snow, I’m not the only one to do so recently. It is so cool that they preserved this place exactly how it appeared in the movie. How cool is that? I will have to return here some day when the field isn’t partially covered in snow and the corn is actually up. Thanks for bringing me to this awesome location today!” – Tsmola

“This was a focus cache, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I have seen this movie a few times, and seeing the movie set was thrilling! Walked around the bases, and wandered out into the corn field was exciting! Thanks so much for placing this cache, as I wouldn’t have never seen this place without it.” – outsiders2

“Another must visit cache on our 7 day road trip with outsiders2 and Dr. House. We all remember watching the movie probably more than a few times. Took some time out of the schedule and became tourists and take many photos and even bought a few souvenirs. TFTC” – DDTKR

What the geocache owner, The-DuHawks, have to say:

On the favorite points and positive logs: “I think it is wonderful. It is a special place for me. In the final scene of the movie, when all the cars were driving, with their lights on, to the Field, my parents, who were in their 70’s, were driving one of the cars. I find it unbelievable that, even after 25 years, there are 1,000’s of people visiting the Field of Dreams every year.”

Journey to the Center of the EarthCache

Earlier this year, the Geocaching HQ video team followed a team of brave geocachers on an endeavor that is unprecedented in the Geocaching world. Their ultimate goal: to find the most difficult EarthCache in the world. The video detailing their journey is now live for the geocaching community.

EarthCaches were created as a joint partnership with Geocaching.com and the Geological Society of America. There’s no physical container, but each EarthCache teaches you an Earth science lesson. Once at the coordinates, geocachers must answer certain questions in order to log a find.

Find an EarthCache near you.
