A finder that’s also a hider, a hider that’s done plenty of finding, and then a newer hider/finder that’s using YouTube to connect to new geocachers. The nominees for Geocacher of the Month are all that and hail from three different powerhouse geocaching countries. This is your opportunity to  help decide which will take home the earned, never for sale, Geocacher of the Month geocoin (at left).

Each featured Geocacher of the Month will receive the exclusive special edition geocoin, a hat and profile icon. They’ll also receive a certificate acknowledging their contributions, signed by two of the founders of Geocaching.com.

In July, Mollov was officially named the Geocacher of the Month.

Mollov – Geocacher of the Month

One comment showed Mollov’s 360 degree passion for geocaching and its community, “Mollov is one of the most active geocachers in Bulgaria I know and probably the most enthusiastic one as well. His geocaching activities do not end with finding, hiding and maintaining geocaches. If you have seen any of his geocaching adventures on Youtube, or read any of his geocaching articles on his blog, or attended any of the events organized by him, then you probably know why Mollov deserves to be selected as Geocacher of the Month.”

Now it’s your turn to help us select the next Geocacher of the Month. Write a supportive comment at the bottom of this blog for the nominated geocacher that you feel should be awarded the title.

Each geocacher named below is already a winner and will receive a prize package from Geocaching HQ. A panel of folks from Geocaching HQ will then use your comments to help guide the decision of which geocacher is awarded the Geocacher of the Month honor.

Here are your nominees for the August Geocacher of the Month. Some testimonials have been edited for length.

Richard E

Rich E, Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Rich E, Nominee for Geocacher of the Month with his geocache Tinman (GC3JAY4)

Linda Wheeler writes, “Hi, I would like to nominate Richard Wheeler.  Richard E has found over 27,000 caches so far, has geocached in every state in the continental US and has hidden 252 caches.  Richard E has many unique and clever hides.  He has several series caches placed such as the Wizard of Oz series and NY plowboy as well as a Popeye series and caches dedicated to local cachers.

Richard E discovered geocaching thanks to me, his daughter.  I told him about it and he said he would find one just to see what it was all about.  That was it for him!  He is frequently accompanied by his lovely wife, Nancy who is also known as LadyBugNY.

She is a fantastic cacher in her own right having logged over 24,500 caches and has hidden 18.  If you ask any cacher in the area if they know Richard E, they will more than likely say yes!”

die Helden – (couple on right) Nominees for Geocachers of the Month

Heather Bull aka Cache on Wheels writes, “My family and I would all like to nominate Die Helden for Geocachers of the month (Helden is their family name and also means Heroes in German)

We contacted Die Helden – Gehard & Heidi from our home in Dorset, UK, prior to our holiday to inquire how accessible their caches are as I have reduced mobility and we really wanted to do some of their caches, especially Geist of Hagen. We saw this had over 4,000 found logs and over 1,000 favourite points (FP).

We exchanged lots of emails and they have really helped us by arranging a suitable route for us to take to be the most accessible for me with my wheelchair.

They also went out of their way and gave up their day to accompany us with their daughter and grandson to help translate to English and guide us along the best route so I could access the caches with my wheelchair… They have also provided fantastic caches that provide information of historic interest, take you to wonderful locations in a beautiful place, awesome caches that are brilliant for children of all ages with a wide variety of physical,  electronic visual and audio effects.”

Dr Evil.

Dr Evil. - Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Dr Evil. – Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Laura Standen writes, “Hi i would like to nominate Dr Evil. from London, England as geocacher of the month. Since 2011 Dr Evil has found 406 caches and hidden 39, his own caches are something everyone talks about around the south east of England, they are mostly child friendly but there is a few challenging ones for us adults too.

He has also introduced lots of people to this wonderful sport we play. I’m one of those cachers who he helped. When I first starting out He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes, some people care about the numbers, Paul is not one of those he is more about the quality of the caches he puts out rather than the numbers. One of his caches is in the top 200 caches in England for the amount of fave points it has. Paul also makes events in the area for like minded people to join him on his caching adventures

Paul also uses YouTube to show off his geocaching adventures, he vlogs every week. He gets a lot messages from beginners saying how he has inspired them to make better caches or start up a event.”

  • Mario112

    Die Helden sollten gewinnen!!!

  • Jack

Dr Evil is the man! His caches are awesome.

  • Meloquin_

My vote goes to Dr Evil, he really is Mr Geocaching… he pours his heart in soul into his caches and his videos. He has helped many new cachers into this game. He has helped my out lots in the last year, he has guided me to be a better geocacher and to put out better hides. His own caches are something special you have to go find them!

I have his phone number and if I run into trouble with one of his caches, he is happy to help.

  • CompactDGS

DrEvil gets my vote, his youtube channel might not be what “geocaching” is all about but it helps lots of new geocachers around the world understand geocaching a little better and makes them want to make better hides than a micro at the bottom of a tree like so many new hides are like, his twitter and facebook are there to chat to old and new geocachers & to bring lots of people together and share ideas. He gets my vote.

  • Mrs Neave

    Dr Evil to win :0)

  • Harlquinth

I would like to vote for Dr Evil also – I have been to several of his caches, and they have all been great fun, as well as meeting him at a really nice event that he organised as well.

  • Ragged Robin

Dr Evil gets my vote ( Ragged Robin ) and he deserves to be GC of the month.

  • Ginny McCann

Richard E is the consummate geocacher. With his total found caches nudging the 29,000 mark, he’s clearly often out on the trail finding caches. But there is more to caching than finding them. Richard has placed many caches, some like his Plowboy series that help the those catchers intent on filling their calendars as well as those who are trying to extend their streaks. But Richard’s most creative and innovative series is his Wizard of Oz series of caches headlined by his Tinman, shown in his nomination picture. Richard MADE theTinman with his own hands.! The actual cache container is a work of art painted with Wizard of Oz scenes by another local cacher. Not only cachers seek out this amazing cache, non cachers stop by to see it. Richard can be summed up with the word gentleman. He is always willing to help others with advice or to point them in the right direction with a challenging cache. Of course he isn’t above needling a friend whom he beat to an FTF practically in her own backyard. Richard always has a helping hand out whether it’s to help someone much shorter over a wide ditch or to put his hand in the hated poison ivy to retrieve a cache. We have cached often with Richard. It’s always a pleasure. He deserves to be cacher of the month.

  • Alex Mcdale

Dr evil is a great cacher and great cache hider, his hides are so much fun, my children love them.

I went to get a FTF on one of his caches only to him him standing there under a umbrella waiting for som to turn up (he said he wait 20miniutes in the rain) he chatted to me for a bit and then stood back and waited for me to find it and understand how to open it, when I signed the logbook he said well done and handed me a FTF geocoin as a well done present. That’s what sort of geocacher he is, he loves to hear story’s of people finding his caches. It’s all about making other people have a good time to him.

  • Steven Jones

My vote goes to Dr Evil. He is a well concerned and active Geocacher in England and adds “some spice” to this game. His own caches are outstanding he takes a lot of time and enthusiasm on them and where he hides them. He’s an example for many of us. Dr Evil has given geocaching an extra dimension and inspires people to be more creative in their logs, he gets our vote for geocacher of the month (August)

  • alana719

RichardE is a well rounded cacher not to mention has some of the best hides I have ever seen, his Tin Man cache is hands down the best cache I ever had the privilege to complete. I had the pleasure of meeting him while caching in the upstate NY area :)

  • Mart

I think the Dr. Evil should win because of his genuine ability to bring fun and creativity to the sport. This can be seen in his YouTube videos that show a wide range of caches from the easy to the hard plus he brings you to some really interesting place. Besides bringing the caching community to the public in such a positive light, if you weren’t already a cacher you would want to check the sport out. He has also given back to the caching community with the namy cache he has placed. Dr. Evil is my vote for cacher of the month.

  • Mr Magic

HI… It has just been brought to my attention that Richard E has been nominated for cacher of the month… He has all the qualifications for this honor… He is creative as you can see him standing with his “Tin Man”… You can call on him at anytime for help as I have call on him… His series of caches is just another way of showing of his exceptional devotion to this sport… He is not afraid to share his new ideas with the caching community… For these reasons I vote for Richard E…

  • Dittocat

Although I live in Florida and Richard E lives in NY, his caches and dedication to geocaching are known all the way down here. He definitely deserves to be recognized by our community.

  • CatCats

Dr evil is a great geocacher, he’s helped hundreds of new cachers start up and set there own caches. His own caches are great! So many people talk about them, we need more people in the Geocaching work like DR EVIL. He should get the award.

  • Hannah Bashford

I’ve also gone for a ftf on one of Dr Evils hides to find him sitting in his car waiting for the first cachers to turn up, he is a true gent! He gave me a unactivated FTF geocoin, and a cup of coffee lol it was a cold and windy day. He deserves to be GOTM!!

  • Lyke Wake

Dr Evil for sure. His caches are ones to seek out and will enchant, make you smile or (my favourite) even send a shiver up your spine. Whatever type of cache your doing, if it’s a Dr Evil one, you know it’s going to be a goodie!

  • intheknow

    Is that right? LOL

  • thenetsaint

Dr Evil is a legand, a must win :)

  • Ronald

    Dr Evil is the best.

  • Joe B 46er

Richard E puts a lot of time and effort into his caches. The coords are always right on. His Tinman cache was already honored by Geocaching.com … some of my favorites are – Batteries not included – you had to insert batteries into a bird house, the inside would light up and then you could look through a hole to get the final coords / Flipper – tube in the woods with a plunger which would shoot the container with the log out of the top / It’s 5 oclock somewhere – a clock in the woods which you moved the hands to 5 o’clcock to reveal the final coords. He takes geocaching seriously and maintains his caches on a regular basis. He is well known in our community and would be a great choice as Cacher of the week. I hope he wins!

  • Green Fmaily

Dr Evil from us. Dr E/GeoPaul , as is his nickname’s, is a very encouraging
cacher, but his caches are really enormous fun. They are family
orientated and kids just love them…even my kids who say they don’t want
to cache anymore will cache if it is a Dr Evil one! The effort and
time he puts into his caches is just inspiring. Thanks :o )

  • Andy Stevens

    Dr Evil gets my vote!

  • Adkhiker51

Richard E – My vote goes for Richard E. Although I’ve been geocahcing for less than a year now, it quickly became obvious who the key local players are, and Richard E has stood out among them for some time. However, what I like most is his devotion to the game, and how he always has positve feedback to all the cachers he comes across. I also like the way he reaches out to new cachers with an offer to help out and nurture them through the beginning stages. It seems he can find almost anything, and he’s a pretty good hider as well. Geocacher of the Month would be a well deserved accolade!

  • Can’t Find Diddly

Richard E! He has real quality caches, he puts his all into them, he has a lot of hides, he has found a lot, and if you have ever logged one of his caches you KNOW he reads those emails! I have gotten a phone call or two not long after posting a log, and if there is something wrong he wants specifics, if you saw something unique or had a bad experience, he wants to know more. Tinman cache had heart, literally and figuratively…I vote Richard E!

  • EdsPro

    Dr Evil to win!!

  • TheDeathlyHallows

Richard E is completely addicted and dedicated to this amazing game. He keeps his hundreds of caches always running and creative. He is known by everyone in our region and everyone can attest to his level of dedication. I can’t think of a better person in our area that would deserve a honor such as this. There is so much more I could say about Richard E, but I better keep it short, because people don’t want to be reading a book. :)
