What was the significance of April 18, 2010? I thought the previous record had been set on May 1, 2010 thanks to the ’10 Years’ events happening worldwide?

Is there a way to figure out the approximate percent of active geocachers that number represents? (of course a definition of “active geocacher” would be needed, like maybe logging an average of once a month for the past few months?)

11.11.11 is Armistice Day in Europe. It’s also a Friday.
09/10/11 falls on a Sunday. Surely this date is better.

In the U.S., it’s Veterans’ Day. 9/10/11 sounds better (and more respectful). There’s always 12/12/12!

Unfortunately in case of 09/10/11 there arises an ambiguity in date format. In some countries (like mine and yours) this would be interpreted as 9 October, but I think there are also countries where the same row of numbers means September 10.
I like the 11/11/11 idea for it is an even greater challenge to mobilize so many geocachers on Friday and with likely suboptimal weather for most parts of northern hemisphere.

On 10.10.10 I found 18 caches and 1 event with Puppyraiser#1. It was nice to help break a record. Cas7796

You’re right about the ambiguity in date format. I hadn’t thought of that.
